After retiring from the Miami Police Force Donovan Philips wandered, eventually taking up flying he considered becoming a trainer till the day his engine quit!

Crashing into the ocean in a storm, barely able to clamber into a small life raft he passed out waking up in hospital among a strange chain of islands the wealthy had acquired secretly building a community away from life's problems.

They had brought everything they needed with them... including murder Donovan's retirement put on hold as he fell into privately investigating the impossibly wealthy in a place where there was no law, only money and the power to live this Miami Life.
